Arogyadham, a Centre for Promotion of Positive Health at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram, a place hallowed by the Father of the Nation, is organizing International Symposium on ‘Yogism for Healthy & Happy Living and Aging’ during December 6 – 7, 2010.

    (Whole Universe (living and non-living) has got an integral existence. It is interrelated, interdependent and cohesive in nature).

We are not isolated beings. We are part of Universe and thus inter connected. Man is unique individual made up of complex emotions, appetites and desires. YOGA way of Living (Yogism) harmonizes the body, mind and spirit and connects to the One ness of the Universe.

Objectives of the Symposium & CME:

  1. To present YOGism as simple living in harmony with Nature and concern for whole Universe.

  2. Discuss the role of Yogasana in body relaxation, Pranayama in energy balancing and Meditation in calming down the mind and thus in management of Life style health problems.

  3. To highlight the advances in health science research by combining the best of the east (Yoga & Spirituality) with that of the west (modern scientific research).

  4. To sensitize and motivate doctors in modern medicine to introduce Naturopathy and Yoga therapy as primary intervention in management of life style health problems (Integrative Medicine model)

The deliberations in the Symposium and CME are designed to benefit health care practitioners, researchers, students and in particular modern youth to understand the importance of YOGism for happy and successful living and prevention of life style diseases.

 

The symposium and CME programme is spread out during two days, consists of Keynote Addresses, Guest Lectures and Panel Discussion on research thrust areas by eminent Yoga Experts and Researchers. (Click here for Scientific Programme)

Poster Session:

There will be a poster session during 1.00 – 2.30 PM on 6th December. Posters may be on the theme of ‘YOGism for Healthy & Happy Living and Aging’ and Management of life style diseases covering Research findings. Best Posters (up to three) will be given awards of Rs. 1000/- each along with letter of appreciation. Interested may register by sending an abstract of research findings on the suggested guidelines. Advance registration is advised. Registered delegates are entitled for Participation at Inaugural and all the Scientific Sessions, Programme abstract and kit, Refreshment, lunch and dinner on both the days.

Accommodation:

For the convenience of all the participants, simple, comfortable and shared accommodation is being arranged in Guest Houses, Arogyadham, Yatri Niwas, Atithi Gruh and Gandhi Vichar Parishad near the Institute on payment of Rs. 400/- for 2 days ($20 for International delegates)  for limited number of participants. 
The tariffs for Hotels available in Wardha (8 km from MGIMS) range from Rs. 500/- to Rs. 1500/- day.

Note:

1. Accommodation will be done on first come first serve basis.

2. Advance towards rent (Rs. 400/-  / US$ 20/- for 2 days in Yatri Nivas / Arogyadham / Gandhi  Vichar Parishad or Rs. 500/- for 1 day advance in hotel, should be enclosed along with Registration Fee.

3. As limited accommodation is available on the Campus, early registration is advised.

Reception:

Sevagram is at a distance of 8 kms from Wardha and 77 kms from the city of Nagpur. Nagpur is the nearest airport.

Sevagram and Wardha are well connected by Indian Railways, as it is at the intersection of Delhi-Chennai, as well as Mumbai-Howrah railway route.

Sevagram station, about 6 Km from MGIMS is located on the Delhi-Chennai trunk route. It has daily train connections with Delhi, Itarsi, Hyderabad, and Chennai. Trains from Lucknow and Patna also halt here.  Wardha Jn.  which is about 9 Km from MGIMS, on the Mumbai-Howrah line. Comfortable deluxe buses run from Nagpur to Wardha every half an hour. Auto charges are Rs. 50 from Wardha / Sevagram railway station to Arogyadham, MGIMS.

  • Last date for submission of form (Registration, Accommodation) – 31st October 2010.

  • All payments can be paid together. Forms will be accepted only when accompanied by  required amount of charges / advances.

  • Please register by 31st October so that we can do the best possible arrangements.

  • Please send abstract of the paper for poster on or before 31st Oct.
